Come follow my journey! I have no official art training and no real connections to get me into the art world. I am 36 years young and my dream is to become an artist, not just someone who makes art in their basement, but someone who successfully sells their art, and I will not give up on that dream! I would love to break into the world of mixed media art and maybe even have galley shows someday!

Crafts, School and I Made a New Piece!

So, I have decided to rent a space at our local antique mall, The olde shoe factory!

I won't be able to do it until I finish up school next February, but until then I  will be trying to create some stock for it. I am aiming at re-purposed antiques, shabby chic items and maybe some original art print and jewelry. Any advice would be helpful!

As for school only, 2.5 semesters left yay! I am looking for a job so I suppose I will be busier than ever until next February!

We had a little break in between semesters last week so I finally finished a piece I had been working on, right now I am calling it Little Girl Lost. I am actually really happy with it.

It's an old card catalog drawer with 3 old keys hanging from the inside top, some scrapbook papers decoupaged onto it and aged with ink and crackle medium. I printed and cutout an old picture of the little girl and the mushroom. The compass, wings, do dad, feet, little door and iris in her hand are all from Alpha Stamps.

The little door opens and I added a black background painted a moon and some stars and added some glitter, then filled it with glossy accents. It got a big air bubble in it by the hinges so that kinda sucked. Maybe I'll try and fix it sometime. I also glued 3 keyholes all on black back grounds and filled with glossy accents on the other 3 sides of the drawer all about 2/3 down from the top.

And last but not least, something I have been loving lately... CeCe Caldwell's paint's! I have the wax now I just need to get some white and maybe some charcoal and blue and red and I am ready to start painting things for my booth. I am so excited it is almost garage sale/ flea market season!!! Any helpful hints abotu CeCe's paint would be helpful too, there is a ton of videos on you tube about how to use it.

I hope fully will be able to keep you all updated on my progress with my projects for!

Namaste!
